ok, at least i have one lighter mood update.

so yday aft work met up with SUE!!
holy mother of goooddddd. i miss her. so we buka-ed and walk walk.
and shop shop.
and talk talk.
and laugh laugh.

70% of wat we talk is .... WORK. siak. like no life rite? but who cares. wakak! we manage to talk alot abt work cos we work in the same dept but different hospital. soooo, aper laggii. and also super gossip plus "gasp + SIAK! + jgn bedek!" moments.

and more shopping. only manage to take 2 photos cos my train arrived. argh! and huda-kuda (JOKINNN I LOVE YOUUU) last min super bubble. you ding dong girl you!!! you shattered my hopes and dreams. keke. drama sikit. anw, i realised, we forgot to talk about our raya outing. zzzz.

oh! when we went buka @ Ayam Bakar Ojolali, Lucky Plaza (or sth like dat), damn nice larrrrrrrr. i think McJedi would love it. *hint hint* its a liiiilll bit pricey, but worth it lar. This place is similar to the Ayam Penyet Ria. pls make reservation if you wana buka on time, thank you. OH YES. we went, and we met ..... JENG JENG JENG! ok cannot tell. only sue and i knows. whoever nak sgt tahu, please snail mail me. if you dono my address, den forever live in curiosity.

this week is not my favourite week by far.
it has been quite depressing, one upsetting news after another.

it is hard to swallow or put aside all emotions and present a pleasant expression for the patients. at times like these, all i need is time alone. unfortunately, i cannot.

i'd say, ive learnt to remain stoic while working. it is one skill NYP do not teach.

i am looking forward in meeting the jedi later today.
i guess, i need him more than anything else right now.

Now, how many of you really knows what a nurse does?
Obviously this question is posted to those who aren't nurses.

First thing i know most of you guys will say is,"wash their backside". Yes, for goodness sake, we dont only wash their backside, we clean them from top to bottom. And we call it, attending to their daily needs in this case, hygiene.
Sheesh.

Nursing by definition (from Wiki) is ...
"Nursing is a profession focused on assisting individuals, families and communities in attaining, maintaining, and recovering optimal health and functioning. Modern definitions of nursing define it as a science and an art that focuses on promoting quality of life as defined by persons and families, throughout their life experiences from birth to care at the end of life."

We attend to their needs, provide them with emotional support, educate them or their family members. We serve them medications. We are equipped with skills and knowledge. We are basically the frontliners who receive information, and are to pass over to their physicians.
Basically, anything to do with emotional, mental, spiritual and medical support, we are responsible. That's a brief description, and quite alot in our hands, right?

Wrong.

What others may not know, we do paperwork too. Lots and lots and LOTS of paperwork. And faxing. And calling. Somehow, we are efficient being clerks if we don't have any.

We make beds too. Not literally, fix metal parts together, but placing bedsheets and blankets nicely for the comfort of patients.

What we don't do is ... figure out why on earth the plates or cups have little cracks at the side. We don't know anything about AC-DC adapter.. Or why the urinal edges are not smooth. Or the clock in your room not in-sync with the one at our counter.

We let those who are expert in these do their job. So, we'll call them, and all we need to do is wait. Why wait? Cos hell, there maybe other thousands of patients around who might need to troubleshoot their remote control cos it doesn't switch to HBO or get their air-con fixed.

And who'll get the complains? The frontliners. Who are they filing their complains against? No prize for guessing ladies and gentlemen. Yes, frontliners.

Who says being a nurse is all about clearing shit? Think again.
Nope, im not complaining about my job. Just giving some of you stereotypes an idea, what we do.

At the end of the day, when they smile, or laugh, or said a lil Thank You, or when they insist in asking you to join to take a pic with them, we know, we made their day...

so, the family is away over the weekend to celebrate my sis's graduation.
unfortunately, im working.

but i had my fun ;)

since im gonna start night shift (yes, again) tomoro, that means i cant celebrate when my McSayang turn 21. for the part 2 of his advance bday celebrations, we went for a ride. a cable car ride, yes. we shud have gone a lil later, cos its so damn hot. wahaha!

so anyhow, my folks forgot im working my last night on sun. urgh. and i had only 3hours of sleep, after that had to head for a family photoshoot, which took like..... 5hours.
cos theres ALOT of waiting. so i did my share of snoozing.
all in all, it was fun. its been a LONG time since i had to be forced to pose and take photos. the photographer said i was a natural. AHEM. wahahah!

and i survived my 2nd (and many more) round of nights! i shall conclude, Red Bull really gave me wings throughout the night. i'll consider that the next time i need to, ahem, stay awake.
